John Woo will always be known as the king of high octaner Hong Kong gunplay thrillers. He learned his trade at the feet of great Shaw Bros director Chang Cheh, and made his own swordplay masterwork for Golden Harvest. That film was ‘Last Hurrah for Chivalry’.
The film has no major stars, but allowed for career best performances from Damian Lau and Wai Pak, and it gave supporting player Chin Yuet-sang his fan nickname ‘Sleeping Wizard’.
