Though she will forever been known as Bruce Lee’s paramour in ‘The Big Boss’, actress Maria Yi was once a swordplay action star in her own right. The same year that appeared in the Bruce Lee classic, Yi starred in ‘The Chase’, opposite another regular Bruce Lee co-star, James Tien.
The film was directed by Wong Tin-lam, father of populist Hong Kong director Wong Jing, and choreographed by Shaw Bros’ stars Chan Kwoon-tai and Jason Pai Piao. Filmed on location in Taiwan, the movie is an early gem from the Golden Harvest studio archive.
