The Shaolin Plot Original Theatrical Flyer

Reel East takes our Heroes of Hung Gar series upriver to include two key figures in the art’s folkloric Shaolin connection.

Though set in Ching dynasty China, ‘The Shaolin Plot’ was shot in Korea, and gives major roles to two local superkickers, Casanova Wong and Kwan Yung Moon. The most memorable characters are actually the villain of the piece, veteran martial arts movie player Chan Sing, and a blind Shaolin master, played by Taiwanese cinema great Kam Kong. Working with his mentor, Wong Fung, choreographer (and supporting player) Sammo Hung packs the screen with action from start to finish.

The film can be seen as something of  a companion piece to Hung’s directorial debut, ‘The Iron-Fisted Monk’, though ‘The Shaolin Plot’ is much less well remembered by genre fans.
