Before Michelle Yeoh, before Zhang Ziyi, there was one queen of kung fu cinema: Angela Mao! Reel East are proud to celebrate the legacy of filmdom’s most lethal female with The Angela Mao Collection.

‘Hapkido’ launched Angela Mao as the new queen of martial arts action. Shot at the Golden Harvest studios and on Hong Kong locations, it allowed Mao and co-stars Sammo Hung and Carter Wong to show off their newly acquired hapkido skills. They even enjoyed a set visit from Bruce Lee, the Asian region’s greatest action hero.

The film tells the story of three Chinese martial arts experts who open a Hapkido school in a remote town, and find themselves having to contend with the bullying local Japanese .

The action for the film was choreographed by legendary martial arts director Sammo Hung, and features Hapkido pioneers Chi Hon-tsoi and Whang In-shik.

Reel East are proud to celebrate this kung fu klassic by making this stylised artwork poster, printed by Golden Harvest for the 1972 release of the film, available to Angela’s worldwide fanbase.
