For the first time! Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan delivers a feature-length commentary on the fan favourite Jackie Chan kung fu epic ‘SNAKE AND CRANE ARTS OF SHAOLIN’.
Author, film producer and Hong Kong movie historian Bey Logan is well known for his work as Hong Kong cinema’s pre-eminent commentarian, and has provided fact-filled, entertaining talk tracks for dozens of Asian actioners.

We continue our series with the 1978 kung fu flick ‘Snake and Crane Arts of Shaolin’, starring a young Jackie Chan, directed by his long-time cohort Chen Chi-hwa and produced by Chan’s mentor Lo Wei. Though dismissed on first release and initially reviled by fans of Jackie’s later films, the movie has undergone a reappraisal in the wake of its recent blu ray re-releases.
In the course of researching his upcoming tome ‘Jackie Chan and I’, Bey took a deep dive into the Lo Wei era, interviewing director Chen Chi-hwa at length, as well as several of the film’s actors and crew members. His scene specific commentary defines the Taiwanese and Korean locations on which the film was shot, as well as detailing the individual backgrounds of cast and crew. Bey’s insights provided the ultimate insider’s look at this lost classic of 70s kung fu cinema.
