Hong Kong cinema expert Bey Logan delivers a new feature-length commentary for the classic Jet Li film ‘Tai Chi Master’

Author, actor and film producer Bey Logan is well known for his work as Hong Kong cinema’s pre-eminent commentarian, and has provided fact-filled, entertaining talk tracks for dozens of Asian actioners. Now he continues his long-awaited return to the mic, and on camera, with this exclusive series of original commentaries, in which YOU get to sit down and watch your favourite kung fu movie with insights from a true expert in the field!

The 1993 kung fu classic ‘Tai Chi Master’ was directed by the legendary Yuen Woo-ping and co-starred martial arts movie queen Michelle Yeoh. Bey worked with both over many months on the film ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny’, on which Logan was a producer and writer. This gave him unmatched access to talent to research books, documentaries and commentaries.’Tai Chi Master’ (also known as ‘Twin Warriors’) was produced by and stars Jet Li, who Bey first met on the set of the film ‘Black Mask’, which was choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping. Logan later worked behind the scenes on the Jackie Chan / Jet Li film ‘Forbidden Kingdom’.

The film depicts the life of the probably mythological founder of Tai Chi Chuan, Zhang San-feng. Though primarily a Hung Gar stylist, Bey has in recent years practiced Chen Tai Chi, which he initially learned from kung fu master and actress Li Fai. Logan wrote about ‘Tai Chi Master’ in detail in his book ’36 Chambers of Kung Fu Cinema (Volume Two)’.
