The Dead and the Deadly Chinese poster

Reel East’s The Sammo Hung Collection celebrates the work of China’s Orson Welles of action. This triple threat actor, director and choreographer has spent most of his career revolutionising Hong Kong action cinema. Reel East is proud to present original memorabilia from some of Sammo’s milestone movies.

‘The Dead and the Deadly’ saw Sammo continue to blend traditional Chinese supernature and martial arts to masterful effect, as he had done with ‘Mr. Vampire’ and ‘Spooky Encounters’.

Director and star Sammo Hung introduced modern audiences to the wild world of Chinese Spirit Boxing, and, as producer, his film ‘The Dead and the Deadly’ focusses on spiritual possession, with the soul of Sammo’s character’s dead friend possessing him to take revenge.

Director Wu Ma co-stars in the film, which top-lines Sammo himself and Hong Kong’s favourite ghost buster Lam Ching-ying. The film’s female lead is major 80s Hong Kong actress Cherie Chung.
